What We Did...

Dave Isay from StoryCorps.me has noticed that everyone around the world has a story that everyone needs to hear. However, these stories aren’t always shared and small moments can be lost and forgotten. Dave and the StoryCorps.me team created an app that provides the tools to create a high-quality interview on a mobile device, and share the finished product with friends and family. This will be a way for individuals to connect in a meaningful way with those close to them, and gain insight into the lives of others.

Our third graders took on the role as a reporter and a journalist. They were asked to create digital stories for our own version of StoryCorps.met to help them archive the wisdom of generations about life in the past to preserve it for the present and future.

As a journalist, our 3rd graders developed and choose questions to ask their senior so they could gather as much information about their life in the past and how it helps influence change fro the present and future. They interviewed at least one grandparent about their life in the past and how it has changed to the present day.

As a reporter, our 3rd graders then wrote a response about the more important aspects that happened in their grandparent's past and analyzed how this information affects the present whether it was themselves, the community or even the world. Finally, our students created a digital recording of this response in order to preserve the wisdom of the past and how it influences change for the present and the future.
